The Academy of Audiology promotes quality hearing and balance care by advancing the profession of audiology and hosing AudiologyNow!, the largest gathering of audiologists in the world. We have compiled our top 50 MedTech conferences for 2017, and we have listed them here, in no particular order, so that you can plan your calendar for the remainder of 2017. While there are hundreds of MedTech events and conferences taking place around the globe, we have compiled those that we consider to be the best, based on the distinguished speakers, expert presenters, educational sessions, and networking opportunities they offer. MedTech could disrupt healthcare soon, and the designers, engineers, investors, physicians, entrepreneurs, and other individuals involved in the industry come together at MedTech conferences to share their vision for MedTech and its place in health care. MedTech is beginning to flourish because of technological advancements and new systems for analyzing data, measuring success, assigning value, and creating business models to reward top health innovators. MedTech encompasses such a wide range of technology that the Global Medical Devices Nomenclature (GMDN) Agency places MedTech into 16 categories of products: active implantable technology, anesthetic and respiratory technology, dental technology, electromechanical medical technology, hospital hardware, in vitro diagnostic technology, non-active implantable technology, ophthalmic and optical technology, reusable instruments, single use technology, technical aids for disabled, diagnostic and therapeutic radiation technology, complementary therapy devices, biological-derived devices, healthcare facility products and adaptations, and laboratory equipment. Finally, contraceptive devices also fall under the medical devices category. Medical devices also aid in the investigation, replacement, and modification of the anatomy or of a physiological process, such as artificial knees and hips. No matter how low or high tech, medical technology has a potential positive affect on people’s health and quality of life. MedTech also incorporates medical devices and healthcare technology, including the instruments, software, materials, etc., that are used to diagnose, prevent, monitor, treat, or alleviate disease or injury. Currently, there are more than 500,000 medical technologies available to improve and extend patients’ lives. MedTech takes many forms, but it most commonly is used to diagnose, monitor, and treat nearly any disease or condition. Medical technology (MedTech) is any technology used to save lives or improve patient care.
